Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I was bored with the usual routine’s found in a global gym and could no longer motivate myself to train for the sole purpose of building bigger biceps/chest. After I watched how the cast of “300” trained with Gym Jones I knew that’s how I wanted to train.

Why did you become a trainer?

With a degree in exercise science it was a natural transition for me to apply my knowledge to teaching the CrossFit method. I found so much joy in doing CrossFit it was easy for me to pass on my knowledge of CrossFit to others.

WHAT YEAR DID YOU START CROSSFITTING?

I officially started CrossFit around 2013 which was the same time that I started coaching CrossFit.

WHY DID YOU GET INTO FITNESS (AND CROSSFIT)?

I was a rower in college and that kept me searching for other athletic platforms that were similar but continued to build on what I loved to do.  I studied Nutrition at UMass-Amherst and then started coaching rowing.

WHY DID YOU BECOME A TRAINER?

Coaching turned out to be more enjoyable than I expected.  Once I started coaching I continued to expand my knowledge. I have coached Women’s rowing, Men’s rowing, strength and conditioning, gymnastics, and the platform that combines them all; CrossFit. I love making people healthier and more capable versions of themselves.  Coaching has been an amazing way to fulfill both of those goals for others as well as myself.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE CROSSFIT MOVEMENT?

Learning new movements and continuing progress in my abilities is a constant drive for me.  It really depends on the day as to which movement is my favorite.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHEAT FOOD?

I have a lot of cheat foods.  I try to eat with thoughtfulness but give myself breaks on the foods I enjoy that don’t always fit into my weekly routine.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO AND WHY?

I don’t have just one favorite Superhero.  Each time I think about this question I think about all of the different abilities each Superhero has and am stumped as to which would be best. I think that this answer is the same as my favorite CrossFit movement. Depends on the day and the last movie I watched!

Qualifications:

  • CrossFit Level 1
  • CrossFit Level 2

WHY DID YOU GET INTO FITNESS (AND CROSSFIT)?

I was dealing with back problems and overweight.  I wanted to get the weight off and get stronger. I had been hearing about this new fitness program called CrossFit. Decided to give it a go. After my first 3 classes over the “share the pain” weekend, I was sore as hell, still not sure what it was all about, but I wanted more. I was hooked!

WHY DID YOU BECOME A TRAINER?

CrossFit changed my life.  I wanted to be a part of that in other peoples lives. To watch members transform into someone they never thought they’d be is pretty special.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

Sport and fitness has been such a staple in my life and cornerstone of my identity that I struggle to envision my life without it. CrossFit is a favored mode of movement because it’s an amalgamation of many of my favorite ways to sweat; running, jumping, climbing ropes, lifting weights and being upside down- what a time!

Why did you become a trainer?

I really like wearing sweat pants, so this is the best way I could do that without being judged for it.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

Whenever I see rope climbs in a workout I swoon. Do men swoon?

What is your favorite cheat food?

“Cheat food” implies a certain level of restraint, of which I have none. “If I likes it, I eats it”- Winston Churchill

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

If you’re familiar with The Power Rangers; the Green Ranger. He has a dagger flute and his own zord… need i go on?
